The beloved Pickie to Pier Swim has made a triumphant return to the summer scene! Originally held from the early 1900s to the 1980’s, this event was revived in 2019 after a 30-year hiatus, and we're thrilled to be celebrating our 5th year back in action.

This year, we’re modifying the course to pay homage to the original route. Starting and finishing at Skippingstone Beach (Pickie), participants will swim towards the iconic Pier, navigating around an 800m marked course before returning to the beach.

Safety is our top priority, and we are passionately committed to ensuring that all our swimmers have a fun and secure experience. With qualified safety crew, thorough course markings, and safety briefings, you can dive in with confidence and focus on enjoying the thrill of the swim. Safety Cover provided by Safer Waters.

All swimmers receive a race swim cap, finisher medal, complimentary hot drinks and snacks to refuel post-race, courtesy of ASDA Bangor and EUROSPAR Gransha.

The winners receive:

  • 1st Prize trophy and a Dippers Bundle
  • 2nd Prize trophy and a Hooded Poncho Towel
  • 3rd Prize trophy and a Changing Mat Bag

Prizes kindly sponsored by Cosimac.

Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or entering your first open water swimming event, the Pickie to Pier Swim welcomes all water enthusiasts to come together for a day of sun, sea, and spirited competition. Spaces are limited to 200 participants and have sold out fast in the past. See you at the beach!

FREE Pre-Swim Yoga

Salty Session with The Salty Yogi: 10am - 10.30am

The Salty Yogi will facilitate a ‘Salty Session’ – a fun and relaxed approach to vinyasa yoga, taking it one breath at a time to flow through an energetic and dynamic practice.

FREE Pre-Swim Breathwork

Breathwork Session with Scott Riley: 10.30am - 11am

Join an activating breathwork session with Scott Riley to prepare for the big swim. Having trained in person with the world-renowned ‘iceman’ Wim Hof in 2017, Scott established Bangor’s popular “Dash & Splash” running and sea swimming group in the same year, before going on to deepen his study in breathwork with further training in the Netherlands in the years that followed. This session will be guided with live music on the melodic RAV drum, and suitable for both first-timers and the experience alike*.

*If you have any medical conditions that may be affected by breathwork (vertigo, epilepsy, migraines etc.) or are pregnant, and wish to attend, please get in touch before booking to discuss how we may be able to make the session work for you.
