Boom Strutt Brass Band is a New Orleans brass band born and based in Belfast. The group was founded in 2018, by Colette, after a trip to New Orleans in 2017 sparked a love for everything second line. Band manager and drummer Colette Campbell, past lead trumpeter and writer Keith Watterson and, lead singer and saxophonist, Peter Cullen were instrumental in the band’s formation and life.

The band pride themselves in their dedication to combining traditional second line and modern New Orleans music. Think along the lines of Rebirth, Hot 8, Dirty Dozen Brass Bands and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. A family of 8 unique souls with varying years and life experience creates the magic that is Boom Strutt. Whether it’s a street corner, festival or stage, Boom Strutt are guaranteed to get any crowd going, with their own brand of up tempo, energetic New Orleans vibes.

Bangor Blues & Jazz Week is kindly supported by Ards & North Down Borough Council and sponsored by Beamish.
