Siobhan Brown – Manukahunney – is a singer and songwriter whose musical influences hail from the 60s, 70s and 80s encompassing everything from James Brown and Sam Cooke to Joni Mitchell, Jill Scott and Roy Ayers. She sang in numerous gospel groups before starting the band Manukahunney in 2012 as a conduit for her love of soul music, particularly the raw, energetic and funky sounds of Otis Redding and Aretha Franklin et al.
Having sung energetic covers of her favourite soul artists and tunes for years, Siobhan has embarked on her journey writing her own original songs. This new journey has resulted in a fresh and powerful soul sound for Manukahunney with Siobhan’s musical influences on show, all the while grounded in her gospel roots.
